About Us

Looney’s was founded in early 2008 by Paul Gray, co-owner of Gray Insurance Group, and Bill Larney, owner of Looney’s Pub, both located on South Main Street in Bel Air, MD. Through many conversations over lunch about their shared enthusiasm for lacrosse, along with Larney’s generous sponsorship, Looney’s Lacrosse Club was formed. Soon to follow, the established Misstix Girl’s Lacrosse Club joined forces with Larney and changed their program to the Looney’s Lacrosse Club for Girls.

The first year for the Looney’s Lacrosse boy’s program was very successful. Our teams won championships in six of the seven tournaments we participated in. Looney’s U11 team took first place in the Upper Atlantic and Tri-State National Tournaments, the Greene Turtle Invitational, and the Chocolatetown Shootout. The U13 team won both the Upper Atlantic and Tri-State Tournaments, and took second place in Summer Sizzle.

Looney’s draws players mainly from Baltimore and Harford Counties. Our team of coaches is paramount to our success. 2009 will bring even more experience with the help of Looney’s newly affiliated professional lacrosse player, Jesse Schwartzman. Schwartman has recruited top notch pro and college players to help run developmental and training skills sessions for our boys.

Looney’s Lacrosse Club has a bright future ahead of us. With our strong foundation, we should easily become one of the premier lacrosse clubs in our area!
